IRISH show jumping team manager Robert Splaine today revealed his choice of riders and horses for Friday’s Aga Khan trophy competition at the Dublin Horse Show, but did not confirm the jumping order.

The Irish team, who will be third to appear in the main arena at 3pm, are:
Bertram Allen and Hector Van d’Abdijhoeve
Greg Broderick and MHS Going Global
Denis Lynch with All Star 5
Cian O’Connor and Good Luck

After announcing his selection, Splaine said: “We have four riders familiar with the big stage, if they can deliver their proven best we’ve a good chance to do very well”.

Darragh Kenny, who with Go Easy de Muse was not selected from the original squad, was described by Splaine as “a very worthy fifth man”.

If Ireland win on Friday it will greatly improve their chances of topping the 2016 Furusiyya Nations’ Cup league and qualifying for Barcelona’s final in September.

Eight countries will compete on Friday afternoon at the RDS in Dublin, and the Irish foursome will be hoping to make it the home team’s second successive win and their third Aga Khan victory in five years.

RTE tv will broadcast the action live from 3:15pm on Friday from the RDS, but the competition is also available by livestream on subscription from FEItv.org at this link.
