Ireland’s Dermott Lennon and Conor Swail took the top two places in Thursday’s 1.50m Friends Of The Meadows Cup at the Pan-Am meeting at Spruce Meadows in Canada.

Former world champion Lennon rode MJM Pursuit for the win in what proved an unbeatable time of 53.84 seconds while Swail took second with GK Coco Chanel in 56.74.

The Irish riders proved too strong for the remainder having established their positions early in the class which featured ninety-five combinations.

There was little between the next three placings with Mexico’s Patricio Pasquel third on Babel in 57.58 ahead of American Andrew Welles on Serpico in 57.76 and Brazil’s Luis Francisco De Azevedo fifth in 57.84 on Collin.

Ireland’s Jordan Coyle was just fractions further back in sixth on Bold Prinz in 57.91.
