Ireland’s team for Sunday night’s Nations Cup in Ocala, Florida has been named by Chef d’Equipe Michael Blake.
Ireland will line out as:
Daniel Coyle – Cita
Paul O’Shea – Skara Glen’s Machu Picchu
Darragh Kenny – Go Easy De Muze
Cian O’Connor – Clenur
Ireland will be hoping to repeat their 2017 victory at the US venue, though O’Connor is the only rider who appeared on last year’s team, albeit with a different horse.
Ireland will be first to jump in the competition, which will be available from 6pm Irish time on livestream here.
Ocala will be followed by the Wellington Nations Cup, also in Florida, and which Ireland also won in 2017, but neither are points-scoring fixtures for Ireland in the Longines 2018 Nations Cup series.
These, as revealed by We Live Horse eight days ago, will be:
Samorin, Slovakia – Sunday April 29
La Baule, France – Sunday May 20
Falsterbo, Sweden – Sunday July 15
Hickstead, United Kingdom – Sunday July 29
Dublin, Ireland – Friday August 10
Chef d’Equipe for the European competitions will be Rodrigo Pessoa, who presided over Ireland’s historic European Championships win at Gothenburg last year.
In Abu Dhabi today, meanwhile, David Simpson and Keoki jumped a double clear round in the Nations Cup to help Ireland score a second place after a two-way jump-off with New Zealand, who achieved their first ever FEI Nations Cup victory.
Irish scores were:
Cameron Hanley/Aiyetoro 4/4
David Simpson/Keoki 0/0
Paul Kennedy/Cartown Danger Mouse 8/4
Shane Breen/Laith 0/8
Simpson also picked up a 25,000 euro bonus for his double clear.
Chef d’Equipe for Abu Dhabi was Taylor Vard.
