Ireland’s Billy Twomey and Ardcolum Duke proved fastest by far in the twelve-way jump-off for today’s Horseware Ireland 1m45 class at Liverpool International Horse Show.

Twomey knocked over a second of the lead time of Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano on Chalou, and the remaining contestants were unable to get near the Irish rider’s time.

Shane Breen added another Irish presence to the presentation ceremony by getting Guidam Van Het Achterhoek home in third, fractions off the Italian rider’s time.

Dermott Lennon and Loughview Lou-Lou also made the jump-off, finishing sixth as fastest of the four faulters, while a fourth Irish rider David Quigley took tenth, also with four faults in the jump-off.

Earlier in the day Lennon had finished second with Fleur IV in the opening international event behind Great Britain’s Louise Saywell and Peiter VI in the 1m40 two-phase class, in which Michael Duffy and Dreamer took fourth.
