For the second year running Ireland’s Bertram Allen has triumphed in the Grand Prix at the four-star Swedish International Horse Show in Stockholm.

The Irish rider’s double-clear performance on Molly Malone V this afternoon was not matched by any of his rivals and earned him his second and ultimately his third Volkswagen Tiguan of the weekend, adding to the three cars he won at the venue a year ago.

Allen posted the only first round clear today and went into the jump-off with five rivals, all of whom carried forward a time fault. Four of these managed clears in the decider, but so did Allen, leaving him with the only overall zero score.

The Grand Prix win followed last night’s speed victory in the Volkswagen Cup, also with Molly, and meant Allen had taken both contests for the second successive year, having triumphed with Quiet Easy in both events a year ago.

This year’s double success once again earned Allen the leading rider accolade and, like last year, saw him collect the keys to his third Volkswagen car of the weekend.
