IRELAND’S show jumping team staged a remarkable recovery in the second round of the Swedish Nations’ Cup at Falsterbo today (Friday), with no faults added to their first round score of 13 penalties.

Pulling themselves up from the bottom of the leaderboard, spirited displays from Shane Sweetnam and Chaqui Z (nine faults in the first round, zero in the second) and Darragh Kenny with Go Easy de Muze (ditto) showed a steely determination by the Irish team not to stay where they’d been at the end of the first round.

Anthony Condon and Aristio produced Ireland’s only double clear round, while anchorman Shane Breen and Golden Hawk took a chance on spoiling the team’s clean sheet with a second round appearance, but this time left no margin for error with a perfect clear round.

Ireland finished the Nations’ Cup equal sixth of eight teams and now lie sixth in the overall Furusiyya standings, with just the Dublin Horse Show to come.

Three double clear rounds secured victory for Switzerland at the end of the day in Falsterbo.
