Olympic gold, silver and bronze medallists, World Champions and medal winners and 18 Olympians will be amongst the largest ever total of 343 entries at Tattersalls International Horse Trials this year.
With more overseas riders than ever before from nine countries, the list includes the Queen’s World Champion granddaughter and five of the top 20 Eventing Athletes in the world all lining out for the 12th renewal of the Tattersalls event at Ratoath in Co Meath at the end of this month.
Commenting on the entries, Roger Casey, Managing Director of Tattersalls Ireland said: “Tattersalls continues to grow each year in numbers and prestige and is now well established as one of the most popular international three day events in the world as we continue to attract so many of the international stars from the sport of Eventing.
“No other sporting event in Ireland this year will have as many Olympic Champions and medallists, World Champions and medallists and existing Olympians in the one venue at the same event.
“Some of the greatest riders of our time will be competing, like Olympic Champions Sir Mark Todd and Blyth Tait, William Fox-Pitt, World no.2 Philip Dutton, Grand Slam winner Pippa Funnell, six time Olympian Mary King and Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter the former World Champion Zara Tindall – as well as other international superstars like Oliver Townend, Sam Griffiths, Harry Meade, Piggy French, Tim Price and Bruce Davidson Junior.
“Along with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s daughter Bella many of our best Irish riders and Olympians will include Jonty Evans, Camilla Spiers, Mark Kyle, Clare Abbott, Michael Ryan and Austin O’Connor.”
The 2017 Tattersalls International Horse Trials and Country Fair takes place from the 31st May – 4th June 2017 at the County Meath venue. Last year’s event was watched by viewers from 127 countries last year.
Tattersalls will also be running the Irish leg of the FEI Nations Cup™ as well as eight competitions including the George Mernagh Memorial CICO3* – NC Class.
